Meaghan Boyd, partner in Alston & Bird’s Environment, Land Use & Natural Resources Practice, has been appointed Co-Chair of the Expert Witness Committee of the ABA Section of Litigation. Her appointment is for the 2015-2016 term.
The committee provides continuing education to litigators regarding expert witnesses; shares best practices designed to determine the qualifications, scope and proper parameters for expert witness testimony and promotes networking opportunities for litigators and expert witnesses in technical fields, such as accounting, engineering and science.
Boyd has held several ABA leadership positions, most recently serving three terms as Co-Chair of the Environmental Litigation Committee from 2012-2015. In 2010, she was named “Outstanding Subcommittee Chair” by the ABA Section of Litigation in recognition of her leadership.
In addition to her ABA leadership, Boyd was recently named to the University of Georgia Alumni Association’s 2015 “40 Under 40” class, which honors young, successful alumni who have made a significant impact in business, leadership, community, educational and/or philanthropic endeavors.
Boyd’s practice focuses on complex environmental and toxic tort litigation. She also counsels clients on compliance matters involving many federal environmental statutes, including the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and their state counterparts, as well as hazardous materials transportation regulations and local zoning ordinances.
