Kevin Gooch, partner in Alston & Bird’s Finance Group, and Kyle Wallace, partner in the firm’s Litigation Group, have been honored for their selection as members of the Daily Report’s “On the Rise” class of 2015, an elite group of Georgia lawyers under the age of 40 who have achieved a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.
Gooch, who represents financial institutions and borrowers in a variety of corporate transactions, was highlighted for his role as counsel in more than $15 billion in finance and restructuring transactions during his eight-year career at Alston & Bird. He was also recognized for his extensive community work, including his recent appointment to the DeKalb Development Authority, the county's economic development board, as well as his work as president of the Emerging 100 of Atlanta, the young professional auxiliary of 100 Black Men of Atlanta. Among Gooch’s other recent accolades, he was named a 2015 Fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity and recognized among the Atlanta Tribune's “Ones to Watch” and the University of Georgia (UGA) Alumni Association’s “40 Under 40” class of 2015.
Wallace, a litigator, was recognized by the Daily Report for his notable client work, as well as his impressive civic engagement. As noted by the publication, he focuses on defending clients in consumer class actions and other high-stakes disputes and was a member of the team representing Toyota over problems with unintended acceleration in some car models. A former assistant United States attorney, Wallace also counsels and defends clients in government investigations and white-collar matters. In addition, he is the co-author of an influential law review article that proposed a new jurisdictional framework for the Georgia Supreme Court and Georgia Court of Appeals and measures to ease the excessive caseload at the Georgia Court of Appeals.
