ApolloMD Enters into Management Services Agreement for Hutcheson Medical Center

Alston & Bird client ApolloMD, a leading clinical outsourcer for the healthcare industry, has entered into a management services agreement to operate bankrupt Hutcheson Medical Center in Fort Oglethorpe, GA, while it finalizes details to purchase the facility.

Under the agreement, ApolloMD was able to reopen the hospital just 17 days after it was closed by order of federal bankruptcy court and continue providing the northern Georgia community with quality health care. The agreement allows ApolloMD to manage the hospital while it applies for regulatory approval to purchase the hospital.

Based in Atlanta, ApolloMD is a multispecialty, physician-owned and -led practice group operating in 16 states. Its planned purchase of Hutcheson will mark the first hospital owned by the group.

Advising ApolloMD was an Alston & Bird team led by partners Sarah Ernst (Corporate Health Care Transactions), Dawnmarie Matlock and Rob Stone (Health Care) and senior associates Jonathan Edwards (Bankruptcy & Financial Restructuring) and Kim McWhorter (Health Care).
