Rosemarie Thurston, Alston & Bird partner and head of the firm’s REITs & Real Estate Funds Practice, has been recognized by the Investment Program Association with its 2016 “Outstanding Service Award.”
The award honors an individual IPA member who demonstrates exceptional qualities of leadership within the association and displays consistent dedication of time and effort to the advancement of direct investments.
Thurston has served on IPA’s board of directors since 2010 and is the former chair of the association’s Legal & Regulatory Committee. She has been instrumental in drafting comment letters on new regulations affecting the direct investment industry and a leading advocate for promoting best practices and product innovation in the sector.
Formed in 1985, the IPA is one of the direct placement industry’s leading trade organizations. It supports individual investor access to a variety of asset classes not correlated to the traded markets and historically available only to institutional investors. These include public non-listed REITs, business development companies, energy and equipment leasing programs and private equity offerings.
