Press Release April 6, 2022

Amy Mushahwar Recognized as a Leading Woman in Data by Global Data Review

Amy Mushahwar, partner on Alston & Bird’s Privacy, Cyber & Data Strategy Team, has been named to Global Data Review’s (GDR) “Women in Data 2022” list, recognizing women at the cutting edge of legislation, regulation, and technology around the world. GDR analyzes the law and regulation of the use and trade of data globally.

In her profile, Mushahwar was asked what makes a “data” law practice different from other legal disciplines. Mushahwar responded that the modern reality of law is that data has become a facet of all legal practice areas. “[Data] permeates everyone’s practice, and successful lawyers are seeing digital transformation issues in nearly every legal discipline.… In short, data isn’t a practice area – it’s a whole-firm challenge as all companies heavily rely on data and information technology.”

In her daily practice, Mushahwar advises clients on proactive data security practices, data breach incident response, regulatory compliance, and emerging technology. She handles security incidents and interacts with federal and state agencies and forensic service providers, oversees investigations, and designs post-incident response notification and remediation plans.
