Lauren Bolcar is an associate in Alston & Bird’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group. Before joining Alston & Bird, Lauren served as a trial attorney in the Intellectual Property Section of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Division, where she was responsible for litigating patent, trademark and copyright matters involving the United States as a defending party. Lauren devised litigation strategy, managed all phases of discovery, led oral arguments and provided counseling for various government agencies, including the U.S. Copyright Office and U.S. Small Business Administration.
Lauren was also an extern with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where she researched and drafted legal memoranda needed to advise staff attorneys on how best to proceed on issues relating to patents practice. Before joining the legal industry, Lauren worked as a process engineer for a Fortune 100 chemical company.
Lauren received her J.D. from Seton Hall University, where she was a recipient of the ABA-BNA Award for Excellence in the study of intellectual property law. She graduated with a B.S. in chemical engineering from Bucknell University.
