Max Rollens is an associate in the Environment, Land Use & Natural Resources Group. He focuses his practice on land use and environmental matters, including permitting and regulatory compliance, environmental litigation, and enforcement defense.
Max assists developers and property owners through the entitlement and development process, counseling on local planning and zoning regulations, state and federal environmental statutes, and related compliance matters. He is also experienced in all aspects of federal and state court litigation, including writ and appellate work, as well as representation before administrative agencies. His practice spans a wide range of environmental issues, from defending bet-the-company enforcement actions involving the federal Clean Water Act to securing specialized permits such as coastal development permits.
Max earned his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where he concentrated his studies on and received a certificate of specialization in environmental law. Before law school, Max worked as an environmental consultant in permitting and approvals, which he integrates into his legal representation.
