Dan Taylor is counsel in the Atlanta office and a member of Alston & Bird's Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Team. Dan focuses his practice exclusively on health and welfare employee benefit plan compliance, including compliance with health care reform issues under the PPACA and HIPAA privacy, for employers, health plan administrators and other health and welfare benefit plan service providers.
For eight years before joining Alston & Bird, Dan served as in-house employee benefits counsel for the world's largest home improvement specialty retailer, where he was responsible for all aspects of legal compliance for the company’s employee benefit plans, including drafting and reviewing all plan documents and plan-related communications, managing ERISA litigation, monitoring and assisting with HIPAA compliance, managing the medical plan subrogation activities and negotiating all benefit-related contracts.
Dan has also served as in-house counsel to one of the world's largest providers of business outsourcing solutions, where he was responsible for negotiating HIPAA-related contract terms and ensuring legal compliance of the company’s COBRA, FSA and eligibility and enrollment services.
Dan received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University and his law degree from Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert School of Law in 1997.
