• Counsel for the rezoning of a 2,000-acre Sugarloaf Farm Development in a metropolitan area of Atlanta, now the site of the AT&T Classic PGA Golf Tournament.
• Counsel for numerous developers for mixed-use redevelopments in both urban and suburban areas.
• Counsel for the owner of the 10,895-acre Wolf Creek development in ex-urban Atlanta.
• Counsel for property owners, including REITs and Fortune 500 companies, in matters of eminent domain condemnation and other locally unwanted land uses, including quarries, sanitary landfills, multifamily, neo-traditional development with transit-oriented, mixed-use and redevelopment.

Mike Tennant is senior counsel with Alston & Bird's Environment, Land Use & Natural Resources Group and the Real Estate Litigation Team. He focuses on governmental regulation of the use and enjoyment of real estate, including land use, zoning, eminent domain, property rights, local government, ad valorem tax, telecommunications, development regulations and real estate litigation. He has extensive experience in large, mixed-use, smart-growth developments.

Mike has been recognized for his extensive experience in land use and zoning by The Best Lawyers in America^©. He is a former chair of the Council for Quality Growth, a leading organization representing the real estate development constituency.

Mike received his undergraduate degree from Auburn University and a law degree from Mercer University. He is active in the community, participating as chairman of the board of trustees of Leadership Gwinnett and a graduate of the Regional Leadership Institute. He was named 1999 Citizen of the Year for Gwinnett County by the Gwinnett County Chamber of Commerce. He was recently named to the Founding Board of Trustees for the Georgia Gwinnett College Foundation and also is a Fellow of the Georgia Bar Foundation.
