Cari Dawson, Alston & Bird partner and leader of the firm’s Class Action & Multidistrict Litigation Team, has been honored by the National Black Law Students Association (NBLSA) with its prestigious “Sadie T. M. Alexander Women in Leadership Award.”
The award, which was presented at the NBLSA’s 50th National Convention in New York on March 15, 2018, recognizes Dawson for her accomplishments as a partner, practice chair, and role model, as well as her reputation within the legal community.
This award is the latest to recognize Dawson, who also serves as co-chair of Alston & Bird’s Diversity Committee. She previously has been honored by Benchmark Litigation as one of the “Top 250 Women in Litigation,” the Georgia Diversity Council as one of Georgia’s “Most Powerful and Influential Women,” and The National Law Journal as one of the “100 Most Influential Lawyers in America.”
Established in 1968, the NBLSA is a national organization formed to articulate and promote the needs and goals of African-American and minority law students. The Women in Leadership Award is named after civil rights trailblazer Dr. Sadie T. M. Alexander, who became the first African-American woman in the U.S. to earn a Ph.D. in economics, the first to receive a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and the first to practice law in the state of Pennsylvania.
