The Art of Entrepreneurship - Creating Companies and Cashing Out

Event Detail
January 31, 2007
New York, NY

The Columbia Business School Alumni Club of New York and Alston & Bird hosted a panel of industry experts to share their insights on what it takes to win in the world of entrepreneurship.  Entrepreneurship is an essential drive of value creation, but why do entrepreneurs rarely enjoy a wall street-style payout?  A study conducted in 2004 found that after a year of pre-start-up activity, only about 20 percent of businesses have successfully begun.  Of those companies that launch, more than 50% fail within the first year, and 95% are shuttered within 5 years.
