Jack Sawyer was a featured speaker during this program hosted by the Madison-Morgan Conservancy in partnership with the Georgia Land Trust.  This workshop focused on the role of appraisals in the larger conservation easement donation process. Given the changes to the state’s Conservation Tax Credit, the workshop’s goal is to inform appraisers, lawyers, CPAs, and land trusts about the new law and the requirements for appraisals including best practices, scope of work issues, comparable data, enhancement, appraisal review, ethics, the federal deduction and other tax related issues, recent case law, and IRS Form 8283. Attendees Attendees learned the most relevant, timely information related to conservation easements – a tool which many private landowners use to permanently protect their property and one the Madison-Morgan Conservancy is working to ensure is an option for landowners in the future.
