Bo Phillips and Emily Catherine Hootkins will be speaking at the 46th Annual TIPS Mid-Winter Symposium on Insurance and Employee Benefits sponsored by the American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section.
Bo will speak on the panel “Life Insurance Law Update.” This panel will be a survey of recent developments in life insurance law, including an update on class actions involving cost-of-insurance charges and indexed universal life insurance policies.
Emily will speak on the panel “ERISA Hot Topics.” This panel will discuss significant litigation developments in the ERISA space over the past year. 2019 has seen ERISA issues garner significant attention from the U.S. Supreme Court. The panel will offer defendant’s and plaintiff’s side perspectives on the Court’s grants of certiorari in Jander v. IBM (public company stock holdings in defined contribution plans) and Sulyma v. Intel (addressing the applicable statute of limitation in breach of fiduciary duty cases).
