Jake Kaplan will serve on the panel “I’m a Beneficiary, Get Me Out of Here!” at this conference hosted by the International Bar Association Private Client Tax Committee.
The law on the administration of international estates can be a jungle more tangled than anything in the Australian outback. This panel will deal with various “bush tucker trials,” including new types of families and classes of assets. This panel will not deal with footballers or celebrities, but will guide the audience through the maze of modernity. In this brave new world, families and family ties can be treated very differently from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, creating havoc in the settlement of estates. New types of assets such as digital assets also receive different treatments in various jurisdictions, adding difficulty in an international setting.
