Alston & Bird’s Atlanta Office Dedicates Its 12th Habitat for Humanity House

This summer, Alston & Bird joined forces with Candlewood Suites and Atlanta Habitat for Humanity to complete its 12th home, dedicating the finished house on August 15. Since 1998, Alston & Bird has been an active partner with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity in helping to provide affordable housing for working families living in the metro Atlanta area.

Atlanta partner Mary Benton serves on the non-profit organization’s board of directors, currently serving as secretary. "Alston & Bird is proud to build with Atlanta Habitat and is very appreciative of all the individuals at the firm who gave generously of their time and talents to help another family realize their dream of home ownership."

Atlanta Habitat partners with families, businesses, faith-based organizations, schools and others in the community to build green, quality, attractive and affordable homes for families working towards home ownership. Homebuyers work side-by-side with volunteers to complete 250 sweat equity hours in order to be eligible for a home purchase. To date, Atlanta Habitat has helped build homes for more than 1000 families living in the metro Atlanta area.

Corey Bryant, a graphic designer in the firm’s business development office, was one of many staffers who gave of their time to participate in the project. “It’s important for me to sow hope into the life of someone who may be less fortunate than me—just giving up a few weekends a year can offer a big push in encouraging their dreams and has a lasting impact on both their lives and mine. It’s much more rewarding than writing a check.”
