Peter Masaitis was quoted in a New York Law Journal article featuring the new “Law Firm Sustainability Network,” a group dedicated to promoting “green” law offices by developing best practices that can be broadly applied, and standards that will be used for a LEED-like certification system.
Masaitis, chair of the Sustainability Program at Alston & Bird and a founding member of the Law Firm Sustainability Network, said, “Most firms that start sustainability programs naturally arrive upon the same starting points in terms of initial changes to make, but we wanted to share ideas for next steps, best practices and ways to overcome challenges in the implementation of sustainable practices.”
Masaitis also mentioned the firm’s other sustainability initiatives, such as the comprehensive recycling and reuse programs, a conversion of all disposable catering goods to biodegradable materials and food waste composting.
