Ted Kang, partner in the firm’s Government & Internal Investigations Group, provided legal analysis and commentary for Washington, D.C., local TV station WUSA 9 regarding the federal corruption trial of former Virginia Gov. Robert McDonnell and his wife, Maureen.
On August 18, 2014, Kang summed up the trial deliberations, saying: “Well at the end of the day, the defense and prosecution are jockeying to convince the jury on what their version of the truth is.”
“You heard that when the prosecution presented its case that this was a conspiracy with [McDonnell and his wife] working together,” said Kang. “Now you’re hearing the other side that Maureen McDonnell may have been acting alone and doing things without the governor’s knowledge.”
A former federal prosecutor in the Justice Dept.’s Public Integrity Section, which is currently prosecuting the McDonnells, Kang has been a frequent guest on WUSA 9 and commentator for The Washington Post in this high-profile case.
