Ted Kang Speaks with WUSA 9 on the Trial of Virginia ex-Gov. McDonnell

Ted Kang, partner in the firm’s Government & Internal Investigations Group and a former federal prosecutor, appeared on Washington, D.C., local TV station WUSA 9 to comment on the ongoing federal corruption trial of former Virginia Gov. Robert McDonnell and his wife, Maureen.

“His testimony will make or break the case,” said Kang, referring to McDonnell’s upcoming turn on the stand.

“The prosecution’s case is almost entirely circumstantial,” he continued. “He’s going to be the only one that can come and testify to what his mental state was. So absolutely, he’s going to be critical.”

When asked what strategy McDonnell should use, Kang said, “He’s got to be able to humanize himself and relate and connect with the jurors . . . and take some personal responsibility himself.”
