Alston & Bird ranked among the top 10 patent defense firms for the first half of 2015, according to Law360’s “Most Hired Firms Report.” Courts saw a 13 percent jump in new patent complaints filed in the first six months of 2015 compared to the same period in 2014.
The Eastern District of Texas alone has seen a more than 50 percent increase, and there’s no sign of a slowdown for the rest of the year even after a slight summertime lull.
“It is in fact getting busier. I don’t think it’s just us. Across the industry, it seems to be going up,” said Mike Newton, partner and co-leader of Alston & Bird’s IP Litigation Group.
