Alston & Bird Attorneys Win 2018 Burton Award for Distinguished Legal Writing

Alston & Bird partners Robert Long and Nanci Weissgold have been honored by the Burton Awards as recipients of a 2018 “Law360 Distinguished Legal Writing Award” for their analysis of the changing landscape of liability insurance for directors and officers in the financial services industry. This is the fourth year in a row Alston & Bird has received the award.

The article – “D&O Insurance Coverage Tips for Financial Institutions,” published in Law360 – details changes in coverage options and terms across several risk areas, including regulatory enforcement actions, professional services, and cyber liability and privacy.

“Directors and officers insurance liability coverage terms continue to evolve in ways that can be important to directors and officers if and when lawsuits or investigations against them arise,” write the authors. “These terms can be particularly important for directors and officers in the heavily regulated financial services industry.”

Established in 1999 to honor the finest accomplishments in law, the Burton Awards is a nonprofit program run in association with the Library of Congress, presented by lead sponsor Law360, and cosponsored by the American Bar Association. It is funded by the Burton Foundation, a nonprofit, academic effort devoted to recognizing and rewarding excellence in the legal profession.

This year’s honorees were recognized at the 19th Annual Burton Awards, held at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., on May 21, 2018.
