• Lead trial counsel for Microsoft in a lawsuit filed in the Northern District of California by civil plaintiffs aiming to block the company’s $69 billion proposed acquisition of gaming company Activision Blizzard. Plaintiffs’ motions for injunction were denied and the acquisition closed.  
• Lead trial counsel for a national pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) defending claims that the three largest PBMs conspired to raise the prices of all prescription drugs. Won dismissal of all claims with prejudice.  
• Lead trial counsel for a large national bank against claims that the seven largest U.S. banks conspired to fix the prime rate used to calculate interest on credit card and home equity loans.  
• Lead trial counsel for a large national bank defending claims that mortgage originators used third-party software to raise the fees and interest rates charged for residential mortgages. 
• Lead trial counsel for a large international tire manufacturer accused of conspiring to raise the price of replacement tires sold in the U.S., the UK, and Europe. Won dismissal of claims.
• Lead counsel to the McLane Company prosecuting monopolization claims against Keurig Green Mountain in U.S.-based multidistrict litigation.
• Lead counsel to a leading specialty poultry producer defending allegations that the poultry industry engaged in a conspiracy to reduce output and manipulate price indices. 
• Lead counsel to a leading poultry producer defending allegations that the poultry processors engaged in a conspiracy to suppress processing plant employee wages.  
• Lead counsel to Microsoft for claims resulting from a worldwide conspiracy to fix the price of lithium-ion batteries. 
• Counsel to industry leading property development company regarding property development and antitrust issues.  
• Counsel to an industry-leading health information network regarding antitrust and competition issues.  
• Lead counsel to the world’s largest cellular handset manufacturer for claims resulting from a worldwide conspiracy to fix the price of liquid crystal displays.

• Lead counsel to an industry-leading active optical cable manufacturer to recover damages arising from the attempted illegal monopolization of the market by a rival. 
• Counsel to world’s largest wireless equipment manufacturers in a series of international intellectual property disputes over second- and third-generation wireless technologies. 
• Counsel for antitrust compliance and auditing for a large consumer goods manufacturer. 
• Counsel to an electronics manufacturer in sanctions proceedings for another party’s misuse of confidential information under a protective order, resulting in a record-setting sanction of the opposing party. 
• Counsel to an original equipment manufacturer in a warranty dispute involving automotive component failures. 
  
   

Parker Miller is co-leader of Alston & Bird’s Antitrust Team. He assists industry leading companies with antitrust and competition law issues in mergers and complex civil litigation matters, particularly those with antitrust enforcement and antitrust civil litigation.

Parker advocates for clients accused of anticompetitive conduct in the U.S. and globally. He leads teams that respond to government and private plaintiff scrutiny of strategic mergers and acquisitions. He counsels clients on antitrust compliance and potential litigation issues by using a reasonable approach to antitrust risk. Parker also assists clients who are victims of anticompetitive conduct by marketplace participants.
