Josh Becker, Bill Hughes, Mark Johnson and Beverlee Silva were featured presenters during this course sponsored by EUCI. BLM approval of an Application for Permit to Drill (APD) is a requirement before an E&P company may begin drilling on a federal oil and gas lease. Often, including particular information and working closely with government representatives can help move the permitting process forward. This course explained how to apply to BLM for an APD. It covered notices of staking, the onsite meeting, and detail important information for completing the APD process. The event discussed the surface use plan of operations and addressed the drilling plan. It also addressed issues that may arise in the NEPA review process as well as potential Endangered Species Act. In addition, the course discussed the potential impact of BLM regulations on hydraulic fracturing and waste water disposal, as well as selection of the well construction team and project management issues.
The 1.5-day course included tips on how to expedite the permitting process, and also included information about proper siting and construction for wells, roads, pipelines, and power lines. It discussed critical information regarding Master Development Plans.
