Event Detail
September 30, 2016
Long Beach, CA

Dominique Shelton was a speaker at this forum hosted by the California Association of Realtors on September 20, 2016.

Federal and state regulators from the Department of Defense to the FTC and state attorneys general are taking new measures every day requiring companies to protect personal and sensitive information that they collect. With data security breaches featured in the media on nearly a daily basis, and with class action lawsuits proliferating, what can real estate companies do to understand and anticipate the threats?

The topics covered at this forum were:

  • what current privacy and cyber threats might affect your brokers;
  • mitigation techniques;
  • best practices for vendor management as it relates to privacy and cybersecurity; and
  • best practices for privacy and cyber-preparedness for smaller brokers. Discussion of the NIST cybersecurity framework and recent new technologies guidance will also be covered.
