Adam Biegel, Andy Tuck, and Deona Kalala will speak at the 2022 American Bar Association Antirust Law Section’s Spring Meeting, the world’s largest antitrust and consumer protection law conference.
Deona Kalala will moderate the session “Fundamentals - Antitrust” on April 6. This session will feature experienced panelists in government and private practice discussing antitrust fundamentals including the core elements of U.S. laws and institutions, basic economic principles, and competition law outside the United States.
Andy Tuck will moderate the session "Fundamentals - Antitrust IP" on April 7. This session will give an introduction to key concepts in the intersection of IP and antitrust, including IP and market power, tying, refusal to license, exclusive licensing, grant-backs, package licensing, field-of-use restrictions, and pharmaceutical issues such as reverse payments. Panelists include the chief economist at Qualcomm Technologies and the senior director of antitrust and competition at Cisco Systems.
Adam Biegel will moderate the session "Views From the Bench - Mergers" on April 7. During this program, current and former federal judges will share their lessons and observations regarding merger cases over which they presided. The chief legal officer of JBS USA will also speak about his experience as the first arbitrator appointed to resolve a U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division merger case.
