For the Seventh Year in a Row, FORTUNE Names Alston & Bird on its List of "100 Best Companies to Work For"

National Law Firm Recognized for the Seventh Consecutive Year

Alston & Bird LLP announced today that it has been ranked 19TH among FORTUNE magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” in 2006, making it the highest ranked law firm on the list and the only law firm ever to make the list for seven consecutive years, including placement in the top 10 for four years in a row. The firm has ranked as high as 2nd in 2004 and was listed 9th last year, 3rd in 2003, 9th in 2002, 24th in 2001, and 36th in 2000. The list and related stories appears in the January 23 issue of FORTUNE, available on newsstands January 16 and at www.fortune.com on today.

“Alston & Bird is proud to once again be recognized by FORTUNE as one of the premier companies to work for in America for the seventh consecutive year,” said Ben F. Johnson III, Alston & Bird’s managing partner. “Our commitment to a collegial work environment that supports an open flow of communication and spirit of camaraderie continues to attract high-caliber employees that truly define the strong sense of spirit at Alston & Bird.” In particular, FORTUNE cited Alston & Bird for its constant flow of communications with employees and commitment to open discussion and keeping employees “in the loop.” The firm garnered repeated accolades for its progressive approach towards ensuring a positive work-life balance with flexible work arrangements, world-class child care facilities and generous parental leave.

To determine the FORTUNE ranking, a survey of randomly selected employees conducted by the Great Place to Work Institute was used to capture employees’ opinions about their workplaces and such topics as quality of workplace culture, diversity and encouragement of work-family balance. In developing the ranking, the Institute placed the greatest weight on the employee responses (two-thirds of the total score) in addition to evaluating each company’s demographic make-up, employee benefits programs and human resources practices.
