The Federal Circuit affirmed a ruling by the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California ordering Action Star to pay Alston & Bird client KaiJet Technology International Limited more than $370,000 in attorneys’ fees for bringing an “unreasonable” suit.
The ruling is the result of an appeal by Action Star seeking to reverse the District Court’s previously granted motion for summary judgment of noninfringement and award of attorney’s fees.
Representing KaiJet is an Alston & Bird team supported by partner Ryan Koppelman and associate Xavier Brandwajn, all members of the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group.
