Alston & Bird Earns High Marks from General Counsel for “Best Client Relationships”

Alston & Bird continues to earn high marks from general counsel who regard the firm as a leader in building and retaining deep client relationships based on industry know-how, business understanding and ability to help clients achieve their business goals.

In a new report from BTI Consulting – Power Rankings 2016: The Law Firms with the Best Client Relationships – Alston & Bird ranks No. 6 among a small group of firms that in-house counsel most highly recommend to peers. BTI calls it “Clientopia” – defined as the ideal state of a client relationship in which firms not only act as clients’ go-to outside counsel, but are also the first firms that clients recommend.

The report points to several attributes that drive general counsel endorsements but notes that client service excellence grounded in an understanding of a client’s industry and business is the “single most powerful differentiator in the eyes of clients.”

The study follows another BTI report in June that also highlighted the importance of premium client service as the basis for making law firm recommendations and singled out Alston & Bird for having won general counsel endorsements for the past six years in a row. Among the key findings in the report – Most Recommended Law Firms 2016 – is that superior client service is the main driver of general counsel praise, as cited by more than 64 percent of the study’s respondents.

Now in its 16th year of publication, the Power Rankings 2016 relied on in-depth interviews with more than 300 legal decision makers at the world’s leading organizations with more than $1 billion in revenue and spanning more than 16 industries, including financial services, energy and insurance.
