Alston & Bird has once again been recognized as one of the country’s leading law firms in patent litigation defense in a new report by Lex Machina.
The study, Patent Litigation Year in Review 2016, ranks Alston & Bird No. 4 in representing defendants in the new patent litigation last year, with 51 cases. This is the third consecutive year Alston & Bird has placed among the report’s top 10 firms – an achievement made even more noteworthy given the 22 percent decline in patent cases filed nationwide in 2016 compared to 2015, as noted in the study.
This is the fourth year that Lex Machina has published the report, which surveys and summarizes key trends that have emerged over the past year, with a focus on cases in federal district courts, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and the International Trade Commission.
The ranking is the latest recognition of Alston & Bird’s leadership in IP litigation. JD Journal recently named the firm’s Silicon Valley office as a “Top IP Litigation Law Firm,” and Corporate Counsel ranked the firm No. 7 in its 2016 Patent Litigation Survey.
