Alston & Bird has been named a top legal adviser for bank and thrift M&A transactions by both number of deals and deal value in the first half of 2017.
From January 1 through June 30, 2017, SNL Financial reports that Alston & Bird advised on eight deals with a total value of $664.1 million, placing the firm No. 2 by deal number and No. 14 by deal value among more than 100 legal advisers in SNL’s league table rankings.
Both rankings represent a sharp increase over 2016, with the firm jumping 95 percent in the deal number rankings and 70 percent in the deal value rankings.
Among the transactions on which the firm advised in the first six months of 2017:
- Southside Bancshares’ purchase of Diboll State Bancshares for $218.8 million.
- Charter Financial's acquisition of Resurgens Bancorp for $26.3 million.
- Seacoast Banking’s purchase of NorthStar Banking Corp. for $32.1 million.
