Alston & Bird’s Racial Justice Fund Sponsors 2024 Equal Justice Works Fellow

Alston & Bird will sponsor 2024 Equal Justice Works Fellow Rachel Fox, a Juris Doctor candidate at LMU Loyola Law School. During her two-year fellowship, Rachel will work with the Shriver Self-Help Center at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Downtown Los Angeles, which often sees over 50 default judgments in a week.

Funded by Alston & Bird, Rachel’s project will provide rapid relief to low-income tenants at high risk of homelessness through self-help programs, direct representation, and educational outreach that aim to decrease and set aside default judgments in eviction cases.

The Equal Justice Works Fellowship jump-starts the careers of public interest lawyers by pairing them with legal services organizations to work on projects designed to address the legal needs of underserved communities. Equal Justice Works is a nonprofit organization and the nation’s largest facilitator of opportunities in public interest law.
