Alina Ananian

• Representing a publicly traded life and health reinsurance company in a yearly-renewable-term (YRT) rate increase reinsurance arbitration.
• Defended a private school in a certified class action involving allegations of fraud and violations under California’s Unfair Competition Law, securing a total defense verdict that was subsequently affirmed on appeal.
• Defended a life insurance company in a significant YRT rate increase reinsurance arbitration.
• Defended the majority shareholder relating to a complex dispute and arbitration with the minority owners of the company.
• Defended a lender against a breach of contract claim, obtaining summary judgment in favor of the client and receiving payment of the judgment in full.

Alina Ananian is a senior associate in Alston & Bird’s Litigation & Trial Practice Group. Alina focuses her practice on all areas of litigation including complex commercial cases, class actions, and disputes involving contract, fraud, and unfair competition claims. Alina represents both corporations and individuals in a wide variety of complex disputes before state courts, federal courts, and arbitral forums across the country.

Before joining the firm, Alina earned her J.D. from the University of California, Irvine School of Law. While there, Alina worked as a research assistant and served as both a class representative of the Student Bar Association and as a lead article editor for the UC Irvine Law Review. Alina received UCI Pro Bono High Honors for completing more than 200 hours of pro bono service during law school. Alina earned her B.S. in applied mathematics with a minor in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles.
