Nicholas P. Bell

• Developed and integrated image processing software into a comprehensive software suite used to identify and track objects across a wide-area view.
• Designed and developed eye tracking software on devices used for eye gaze research, mouse replacement, and communication.
• Implemented full image processing functionality for eye tracking devices onto a system on chip that included FPGA fabric and on-board processors.
• Developed software ranging from interrupt driven microcontroller code to high-level user interfaces for military grade modems.
• Inspected microchip wafers as part of the photolithography process by confirming alignment and lack of defects.

Nicholas Bell is a member of Alston & Bird’s Intellectual Property Patent Prosecution Group. Before joining the firm, Nick worked as a software engineer where he specialized in the development of image processing software, ranging from surveillance applications to eye tracking communication devices. He has extensive experience in the design and development of electronic products from low-level hardware design, all the way up to large-scale software applications. He has applied this experience to his work on patent litigation and patent prosecution projects involving complex software, electrical, and electronics technologies.

Nick received his J.D., cum laude, from the Wake Forest University School of Law. Before law school, Nick obtained both his M.S. and B.S. in electrical engineering from Brigham Young University.
