Robert D. Blumenfeld

• Counsel to the asset management group of a major investment bank in the formation of hedge funds and private equity funds, including access funds and collective investment trusts.
• Established an alternative investment fund platform for an investment manager, including the spinout from the principal’s prior platform and launch of hedge funds and managed accounts.
• Led the spinout of hedge funds and private equity funds from an asset manager’s platform.
• Led the formation of a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) sponsored by a boutique investment bank.

Drawing on experience in both private practice and in-house legal counsel roles, Robert Blumenfeld advises leading asset managers, global institutions, and alternative investment firms on a broad range of fund formation, governance, regulatory, and compliance matters.

Before joining Alston & Bird, he held legal positions as an executive director and associate general counsel at Perella Weinberg Partners, and vice president at Credit Suisse, where he counseled business leaders on complex asset management and investment advisory issues.

Robert also practiced at international law firms, providing him with a practical understanding of the legal, regulatory, and operational challenges faced by investment fund sponsors and managers.
