Commercial Disputes
- Representing a military defense contractor in its enforcement of a significant arbitration award against the State of Libya, including proceedings before the Supreme Court of England. General Dynamics v. The State of Libya, UKSC/2019/0166.
- Represented an international private equity house in respect of claims pursued, in numerous jurisdictions, against its founder, with an aggregate value in excess of €950 million.
- Representing an investment arm of the largest commercial bank in Saudi Arabia in High Court proceedings, arising from the widely reported collapse of the NMC Health group in Abu Dhabi.
- Represented a global investment firm in Commercial Court proceedings in its successful dismissal of all claims against it relating to the proposed acquisition of Remeeta Limited. Gordiy v. Dorofejeva and Target Global, [2024] EWHC 1273 (Comm).
- Represented an ultra-high-net-worth individual in two sets of Commercial Court proceedings relating to various loans provided by our client for the provision of IT services in various jurisdictions. Gens v. Goldenberg and Others, CL-2020-000194; Andelle Services v. Isolin Trade, CL-2020-000293.
- Represented a European investment manager in a dispute regarding the construction and ownership of a luxury hotel chain in Greece.
- Represented certain investment vehicles in successfully challenging the jurisdiction of the English Court in Commercial Court proceedings brought by over a hundred customers of a collapsed Russian bank, Promsvyazbank. Tsareva and Others v. Ananyev and Others, [2019] EWHC 2414 (Comm).
Banking and/or Financial Services Disputes
- Represented an Irish issuer of bonds in Commercial Court proceedings, turning upon the payment of a €250 million premium, allegedly due on repayment of the bonds. BNP Paribas Trust Corporation v. Uro Property Holdings, CL-2022-000072).
- Represented a global payments technology solutions provider, in relation to disputes arising from cyber-attacks instigated on third party customers.
- Represented the issuer in four sets of Commercial Court proceedings, relating to the “Titan” securitization structures, turning upon amounts allegedly due to the “Class X” noteholders. Credit Suisse Asset Management v. Titan Europe, 2006-1 PLC and Others [2016] EWHC 969 (Ch).
- Represented a corporate trustee in High Court proceedings relating to amounts due under loan notes issued by Essar Steel (then subject to an insolvency process in India). Bank of New York Mellon v. Essar Steel, [2018] EWHC 3177 (Ch).
- Represented multiple hedge funds in proceedings against the Irish Nationwide Building Society, regarding the rights of its subordinated bond holders, including proceedings before the Court of Appeal. Satinland Finance v. Irish Nationwide Building Society and Another, [2010] EWHC 3062 (Ch).
- Represented various investment banks in a variety of disputes relating to subordinated debt, credit default and interest rate swaps, and other derivative products.
