Matthew Gauthier

• Represented major financial institutions as a trustee, securities administrator, and custodian in closing a broad range of public and private mortgage-backed and asset-backed securitization transactions.
• Represented a FinTech company as the loan data agent on numerous RMBS and ABS securitizations, including student loans, consumer loans, and solar loans.
• Represented custodians in mortgage-loan warehousing and other custodial arrangements.
• Represented a major financial institution as the trustee on a program involving the issuance of municipal certificates.
• Represented major financial institutions involving the administration of previously closed securitization transactions.

Matt Gauthier is a senior associate in the Finance Group. He focuses his practice on major financial institutions offering corporate trust services in a wide variety of capital markets transactions. He routinely represents master servicers, trustees, paying agents, securities administrators, escrow agents, and custodians on public and private RMBS and ABS transactions. Matt also has experience in advising major financial institutions on Reg AB reporting and compliance with the Securities Exchange Act of 1934.

Before joining Alston & Bird, Matt practiced in the Global Finance Practice Group of an Am Law 50 firm focusing primarily on collateralized loan obligation securitization transactions. Matt received his J.D., with honors, from The University of North Carolina School of Law. In law school, he served as the publication editor for the North Carolina Law Review. He received a B.A. in environmental studies from Davidson College.
