His focus of practice was on civil jury trial work in complex cases in state and federal courts, especially in the areas of products liability, medical malpractice, defamation and intellectual property. Though no longer practicing, he is actively involved in the development of junior and senior associates. He counsels the firm’s younger lawyers on career paths and focus areas and trains them on case strategy and the best practices of matter management. He tried more than a hundred cases to verdict.
Jud was profiled in 2000 in The National Law Journal’s annual feature “Winning,” as one of 10 top trial lawyers in the United States. In 2009, Best Lawyers named him as one of three “Lawyers of the Year” in Georgia, and as one of four “Lawyers of the Year” in Georgia in 2013. Three of his defense verdicts were selected by The National Law Journal as being among the “most difficult defense wins” in the country in three separate years.
