• Counsel to a major health care corporation in class actions in multiple jurisdictions alleging invasion of privacy based on the use of website analytic tools.
• Representing a nation-wide conglomerate in a $200+ million contract dispute with a security provider following cyberattack.
• Counsel to various entities faced with privacy allegations or information demands based on the use of website analytic and advertising tools.
• Won a motion to dismiss for a real estate investment firm on an exclusive venue provision.
• Representing a health care company in a putative data breach class action arising from a cyberattack.
• Won a personal jurisdiction challenge on behalf of a multibillion-dollar international building products conglomerate and their domestic subsidiary, and represented their Texas subsidiary in enforcing noncompete obligations of a former employee, while obtaining the dismissal of $450 million in counterclaims.
• Secured a favorable settlement in a wrongful death suit in a federal court suit for a large national manufacturing company.
• Obtained the complete dismissal and award of attorneys’ fees under the Texas Citizens Participation Act for a major telecommunications provider in a malicious prosecution matter.
• Represented a national health care insurer and numerous health plans in a federal court case related to coverage and payment issues.
• Represented the managers of a water transfer services company against contractual, fraud, and termination claims that resulted in a complete dismissal with no liability for the client.
• Represented a pro bono client who had been unconstitutionally convicted by a non-unanimous jury in Louisiana, securing a vacation of his conviction and obtaining his release after more than 35 years in prison.
• First-chaired a federal trial under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction and the International Child Abduction Remedies Act, with the appeals reaching the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court.
• Submitted an amicus curiae brief on behalf of the preeminent legal scholar to the U.S. Supreme Court in a case addressing civil rights implications of child protective services investigations.

Laura Hunt is a member of Alston & Bird’s Chambers-rated Privacy, Cyber & Data Strategy Team, defending companies facing privacy-related challenges. She is also a member of the Financial Services Team, providing strategic advice in high-stakes cases involving a range of financial services, including consumer financial transactions, commercial lending, and mortgage servicing.

Laura’s clients include national health care conglomerates, insurance providers, technology companies, real estate investors, financial services providers, and private equity firms.

Before joining the firm, Laura was a law clerk for the Hon. David S. Morales of the Southern District of Texas Corpus Christi Division. Laura was also a judicial intern to Hon. Thomas B. Griffith of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
