• Counsel for an automotive technology company in regulatory and litigation matters throughout the country.
• Represented a major European technology company in ICC arbitrations concerning the scope and value of license agreements.
• Represented a multinational generic pharmaceutical manufacturer in Hatch–Waxman litigation and commercial disputes in trial courts across the country and on appeal in the Federal Circuit. 
• Obtained a summary judgment ruling dismissing a $50 million defamation action brought by a former record executive against a production company and on-air talent for a highly rated reality television show. 
• Trial counsel defending a major insurance company in a certified RICO class action lawsuit.
• Petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court in Dart Cherokee Basin Operating Co. LLC v. Owens, No. 13 719, and then convinced the Court to rule in his clients’ favor on the merits. 
• Represented a Fortune 500 automotive parts distributor on appeal in the Delaware Supreme Court.
• Appointed as appellate counsel by the Fourth Circuit, Eleventh Circuit, and Supreme Court of Georgia to represent individuals pro bono.

Jonathan Parente is co-leader of Alston & Bird’s national Business Litigation Team. He has represented clients across the country in complex litigation and arbitration involving commercial disputes, antitrust, defamation, corporate governance, RICO, consumer-protection statutes, and constitutional law. He also advises companies in the automotive technology sector on regulatory and strategic issues.

Jonathan handles litigation from its inception but has also been brought in as counsel before trial or to appeal after an adverse verdict. Jonathan’s appellate experience includes representing oil and gas companies before the U.S. Supreme Court in Dart Cherokee Basin Operating Co. LLC v. Owens, 135 S. Ct. 547. The decision makes it easier for corporate defendants to remove cases from state court to federal court.

Jonathan joined the firm after serving as a law clerk to the Hon. R. Lanier Anderson III of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the Hon. J. Randal Hall of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia.

In 2023, Jonathan received the Daily Report’s “On the Rise” award, which honors the Southeast’s most promising lawyers under the age of 40. Georgia Super Lawyers has also named Jonathan to its list of “Rising Stars.”
