MacRae Robinson focuses his practice on alternative investment products and advises both sponsor and LP clients on a wide range of alternative fund matters and capital markets transactions, including private placements, capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, registration and compliance, and general corporate matters.

MacRae has extensive experience navigating the spectrum of alternative asset classes including venture capital, private equity, and hedge fund, as well as a broad array of structures including access funds, master-feeder funds, funds-of-funds, captive vehicles, funds of one, and separately managed accounts. MacRae regularly represents institutional alternative investment platform providers in structuring access funds, funds-of-funds and SMAs, and counsels them on related regulatory matters. He also represents a wide range of investment advisers and private fund sponsors in registration, securities, compliance, and general corporate matters.

MacRae was previously an attorney at an international law firm and at a Charlotte-based national law firm, where he focused on alternative investment products and advised private funds and private fund sponsors on a wide range of securities, compliance, and corporate matters. MacRae has also served as an assistant vice president on the fund-linked products desk at an international financial institution, where he specialized in providing structured liquidity to various alternative fund structures.
