Dakota Sneed

• Assisted Homrich Berg, a registered investment advisory firm, with their $6.4 billion acquisition of WMS Partners, LLC.
• Assisted the Whitley Family in the acquisition of multiple high-profile residential resort projects.
• Guided clients through the process of terminating or merging qualified retirement plans in connection with corporate mergers and acquisitions, including advice on potential compliance concerns, the challenges associated with post-closing benefits structures, and successfully executing the transition process.
• Assisted plan sponsors and employers with the identification and voluntary correction of operational errors within their qualified retirement plans, including errors related to the tax qualification.
• Drafted amendments in order to keep client plans up to date with legislative amendments (SECURE 2.0), regulatory guidance, and their plans’ evolving operation over time.

Dakota Sneed focuses his practice on handling matters related to the administration and operation of qualified and non-qualified retirement plans and executive compensation arrangements. Plan sponsors and employers rely on Dakota’s expert guidance with matters related to ERISA fiduciary requirements. He also frequently assists private equity clients with acquisitions operating at the local, regional, national and global level.

Dakota earned his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where he served on the Berkeley Technology Law Journal executive board and as an editor for the Berkeley Business Law Journal. He previously interned for a law office and also worked as a law clerk. Before law school, Dakota earned his B.A., magna cum laude, in economics and philosophy from Oglethorpe University where he graduated with honors and received an award for excellence in logic.
