Sara Warren

• Defending an industrial company and landowner in the longstanding, complex, and ongoing remediation of a high-profile Superfund site.
• Defending an electric utility company in lawsuits alleging personal injuries and property damages arising from alleged groundwater and surface water discharges and air emissions. 
• Providing financial assurance counsel to one of the top ten energy companies in the U.S. arising out of that company’s oil and gas production, refining, marketing, chemical, manufacturing, Superfund, and RCRA corrective action sites.
• Counseled and defended an industrial company in air and land use matters, and personal injury and property devaluation action.
• Obtained favorable resolutions for a university in code enforcement actions.

Sara Warren represents clients in complex environmental compliance, permitting, and transactional matters while providing steadfast defense in environmental litigation cases.

Before joining Alston & Bird, Sara served as a law clerk for Magistrate Judge John K. Larkins III in the Northern District of Georgia. She also served as a staff attorney for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Sara received her J.D., with honors and Order of the Coif, from the Emory University School of Law, where she was the president of the Environmental Law and Conservation Society and the executive managing editor of the Emory International Law Review. During law school, she interned for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Region 4 and the Southern Environmental Law Center, where her appellate advocacy focused on the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
