We manage one of the nation's largest trademark portfolios on behalf of hundreds of clients, with approximately 25,000 active files in 190 jurisdictions. Our clients are incredibly diverse, operating in fields that include banking and finance, hotels, insurance, sports and entertainment, electronics, computer software/hardware, chemicals, biotechnology, textile and consumer goods, as well as numerous other manufacturing and service industries. We help protect some of the most famous brands in the world, including AFLAC, ARBY’S, AUTOZONE, HILTON, HOMEGOODS, INVESCO, MARSHALLS, NASCAR, TIMBERLAND and T.J. MAXX.
Nearly half of Alston & Bird’s trademark practice relates to international matters, and we work closely with foreign counsel on matters outside the U.S. In fact, Alston & Bird has decades of experience and professional relationships with intellectual property law firms from around the world.
Though other firms tout their international offices as an advantage for handling trademark matters abroad, in our experience it is preferable to have the flexibility to choose specialized firms with particular expertise in the trademark practice area. This leads to substantively better results and more cost-effective service. We draw on our expansive international network to engage local counsel we have established relationships with. Lastly, we have made a point of establishing strong relationships with multiple firms in a multitude of jurisdictions in case a conflict prevents one of these firms from handling a particular matter.
