Alston & Bird Named a Fortune Best Workplace for 21st Consecutive Year

Alston & Bird has been honored yet again by Fortune magazine in its annual survey of America’s “100 Best Companies to Work For®” – marking 21 years in a row that the firm has earned national recognition as a champion of corporate culture and workplace excellence.

In this year’s survey, Alston & Bird ranks No. 56. As in previous years, the firm is one of only a handful of law firms recognized in the rankings. It is also the only law firm to be showcased in the survey 21 years in a row.

“We have great people who create a great place to work,” said Alston & Bird Chairman and Managing Partner Richard Hays. “Every day they are living our culture of trust and engagement that unites us all in going above and beyond in ways big and small and differentiates our firm and our people among clients and the communities we serve.”

Conducted in partnership with Great Place to Work®, the survey canvassed Alston & Bird employees across a number of areas that are key to a winning culture – including values, leadership, trust, and camaraderie – with 91 percent saying the firm is a great place to work. The ranking accounted for the experiences of all employees across job levels, tenure, and demographic categories such as age, race, and gender.

“A great workplace doesn’t happen on its own,” said Cathy Benton, Alston & Bird chief human resources officer. “We work hard to cultivate a culture guided by trust, pride, and camaraderie and one that inspires everyone to be their best, no matter their title, identity, or experience.”

In addition to the Fortune ranking, Alston & Bird has earned a number of other recent accolades highlighting the firm’s distinctive workplace culture, including recognition in Fortune’s 2019 “100 Best Workplaces for Diversity” and “Best Workplaces for Women” and achieving a top rating of 100 percent in the Human Rights Foundation’s 2020 “Corporate Equality Index,” which measures commitment to LGBTQ workplace equality, the 16th consecutive year the firm has earned a perfect score.

“The 100 Best show the way forward,” said Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “These companies have created Great Places to Work For All – for everyone, no matter who a person is or what they do for the organization. As a result, they have built a path to realize the promise of artificial intelligence, gain strength from a diversity of perspectives, and thrive during downturns.”
