Alston & Bird Pilots New Law Firm Sustainability Tool

Alston & Bird is proud to participate in the pilot launch of the American Legal Industry Sustainability Standard (ALISS).

Developed by a task force of the Law Firm Sustainability Network that included Alston & Bird, ALISS is a comprehensive online assessment tool designed to help law firms measure their efforts to promote energy efficiency and conservation, boost recycling and identify opportunities to improve current sustainability programs and practices.

“Sustainability is a priority and core value of our firm, our clients and our employees,” said Peter Masaitis, chair of Alston & Bird’s Sustainability Committee and co-president of the Law Firm Sustainability Network. “We view ALISS as a cutting-edge tool that will help firms receive recognition for their accomplishments in the sustainability field but also clarify for firms looking to improve their green credentials the steps they can take to expand their sustainability programs in a productive, efficient way.”

Alston & Bird is at the forefront of law firm environmental sustainability. In addition to participating in ALISS, the firm is a founding member of the Law Firm Sustainability Network and a recipient of the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Gold certification for its Atlanta office. The firm is also a Leadership Club member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Power Partnership, which encourages businesses to use green power.
