Alston & Bird LLP hosted a teleseminar series on issues arising under the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008.  Each session focused on a specific topic and was hosted by members of Alston & Bird's Financial Markets Crisis Task Force.

Paul Architzel, Willa Cohen Bruckner and William S. Sugden presented "Credit Default Swaps: Where We Have Been, Where We are Headed" from 12:00pm - 1:00pm which discussed emerging issues affecting credit default swaps, including what they are and how they are used, how the ISDA settlement protocol works, how they have been treated from a regulatory perspective, how they are treated in bankruptcy, and what we can expect going forward. The panel also talked about central counterparties — how they work to reduce counterparty credit risk and how they compare to exchanges.
