Will Sugden is a partner with the Financial Restructuring & Reorganization Group at Alston & Bird. He represents debtors, bankruptcy trustees, creditors’ committees and other fiduciaries, and creditors and indenture trustees in bankruptcy proceedings. Will has substantial experience advising parties on insolvency issues arising in workouts and insolvency issues in significant transactions. He also has significant experience advising clients on derivatives safe-harbor issues. Chambers USA listed Will for Bankruptcy/Restructuring–Georgia since 2020. Will was also named to The Best Lawyers in America® for 2018–2025 in Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law and for Litigation – Bankruptcy in 2022–2025, as well as listed in the inaugural Lawdragon 500 Leading U.S. Bankruptcy & Restructuring Lawyers in 2020.
Will earned his J.D. and M.B.A. from Vanderbilt University and graduated from Kenyon College, cum laude, with high honors and distinction. He is a member of the Bankruptcy Section of the Atlanta Bar Association, State Bar of Georgia, American Bankruptcy Institute, Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors, and Southeast Hedge Fund Association.
