Maureen Gorsen was a featured speaker during the session "State Developments and Trends in State Regulations" at this conference hosted by the American Chemistry Council and the Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates. California’s Safer Consumer Products regulation went into effect on October 1, 2013. Compliance obligations for chemical and product manufacturers will begin in the next few months. The rule, among other things, will require alternatives assessments for consumer products deemed to be “Priority Products.” This session addressed the major implementation steps and answered key questions for manufacturers to comply with the regulation. Updates on activities in Maine, Vermont, Oregon and what this means for compliance were provided.
