Alston & Bird Expands Litigation Team in L.A.

Alston & Bird LLP announced today that James R. Evans, Jr., has joined its litigation team as a partner in the firm’s Los Angeles office. With a national practice, Mr. Evans has nearly 30 years of experience defending complex and high-exposure lawsuits in state and federal courts. He has developed a reputation among his clients for his ability to successfully resolve their most difficult disputes. A seasoned trial attorney, Mr. Evans has extensive class action experience, and regularly defends high-stake matters involving claims of wage and hour law violations, employee misclassification, unfair competition, false advertising, disability discrimination and privacy violations.

“Jim has a wealth of litigation experience and knowledge that will complement our already highly regarded bench,” said Alston & Bird Managing Partner Richard Hays. “He will be able to serve our clients in all stages of litigation, from counseling to successful resolution.”

Mr. Evans also serves as a trusted advisor to his clients, providing strategic counsel on employment and intellectual property matters, as well as complicated business disputes. His clients include companies in the retail, transportation, financial and manufacturing industries. He has significant trial experience in construction disputes involving public improvements.

Mr. Evans comes to Alston & Bird from the Fulbright & Jaworski Los Angeles office.


About James Evans

Mr. Evans serves on the board of directors for the Inner City Law Center, San Lorenzo Seminary Corporation, Oakmont Country Club and Saint Francis High School. He also volunteers his services for the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles and Public Counsel, and is a founding member of the Skid Row Citation Defense Clinic. Very active in pro bono work, Mr. Evans has received a number of awards for his efforts, including from the State Bar of California, the Los Angeles Daily Journal and the Los Angeles Community Action Network.

Mr. Evans earned a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law (Boalt Hall), and a B.S. from the University of Southern California.
