Alston & Bird LLP today announced that Karen Sanzaro has re-joined the firm and will be part of its Technology and Privacy Group. Ms. Sanzaro, who will be based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, counsels a variety of clients on sophisticated privacy and security issues, particularly in the context of her outsourcing and technology transactional practice, and is also a member of the firm’s Privacy & Security Task Force and Security Incident Management & Response Team.

She earned her J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center and her B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Ms. Sanzaro focuses her practice on counseling clients in all aspects of global outsourcing transactions and other strategic technology and services procurement initiatives. With respect to outsourcing engagements, she primarily represents customers in the planning, negotiation and contracting phases of complex sourcing initiatives, including IT, HR, business process and facilities management outsourcings, often including an offshore services component. She has advised on sourcing engagements for clients in several industries, including retail, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing and energy.
In addition to her outsourcing practice, Ms. Sanzaro’s practice involves representing clients in a wide range of complex technology transactions and services procurement initiatives, including enterprise-wide implementations, systems integrations, cloud-based transactions and strategic data-based initiatives, with a focus on health information technology. Ms. Sanzaro regularly advises health care clients in the procurement of information technology and related services, including electronic health records, health information exchanges, group purchasing arrangements and data analytics solutions and services.
