Marty Bunin Honored by City Bar Justice Center for Exemplary Pro Bono Service

Marty Bunin, partner in Alston & Bird’s Bankruptcy & Financial Restructuring Group, has been selected as a recipient of this year’s City Bar Justice Center’s Jeremy G. Epstein Awards for Pro Bono Service. Bunin was presented with the award on October 26 at a Celebration of Service reception held at the New York City Bar Association in conjunction with National Pro Bono Week.

Bunin was honored for his ongoing work with the Consumer Bankruptcy Project. He was selected as the most outstanding volunteer for the project based on a range of criteria, including the quality and volume of legal work that he conducted over the course of the year, as well as his leadership in support of pro bono legal services.

The City Bar Justice Center is the pro bono affiliate of the New York City Bar Association. In 2004, it established the Consumer Bankruptcy Project, which is one of only two pro bono bankruptcy projects in New York City providing legal assistance to low-income consumers with outstanding debts. The program recruits, trains and mentors volunteer attorneys to advise low-income consumers of their rights and responsibilities regarding outstanding debts.
